SYNOPSIS
In a spectral present, a man rememorise the dream he had when his father had just past away. A ghost story.
The process of this Short film was very special to me because by wanting to find memory anddreams I meet in a very mysterious way my main character.
During Playlab Apichatpong's workshop, I had a dream where a man was walking backwardslooking for a house in the jungle, and at the end of the dream the man discovered that he himselfwas the house. In that dream, I heard the phrase"I used to call that man home”.
Two days later I met Jorge a man of Mayan heritage sitting in a wheelchair in the middle of a roadin Yucatán, greeting everyone that passed by. When we started to talk, he told me that after hisfather's death, he dreamt that his father was alive, in the middle of a hurricane that took his houseaway, and how that caused him feelings of nostalgia.
This short film is explored in a very atmospheric way to see a dream that in the nature of itself isloaded with an inner world story, in this case symbolically speaks of grief and a fragility of a kid whohas lost his father, who has lost his home and tries to relive it in another world, for me, cinema anddreams can be a mysterious way to encrypt memory,to explore time with different layers andmessages that hidden or revealed show different dimensions of life and landscapes of psychology.
While hes telling the story the camera moves in a spectral way because I want the viewer to bepresent and be part of the dream. There are some sound searches that seek to make what feels sodistant and foreign suddenly become personal in the story. My voice in an unknown language in the beginning dialoguing with his voice speaking in Mayan, creating a language of dreams that seemed hypnotic to me because it was as if Jorge was tellingus a secret as childrens or ghosts.
